WARNING TO SUPPLEMENT USERS: A Texas-based company is pulling several weight-loss products from shelves after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered a deadly ingredient in product samples.

On December 13, the FDA and Motivate Me Ashley Announce the summons Of 11 products sold under the name Vida Slim online – including consumers in Canada – and directly through distributors.

The recall came after FDA testing detected yellow oleander in samples of the product, raising concerns that other quantities may also be affected.

Yellow oleander is a poisonous plant native to Mexico and Central America.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, consumption of yellow oleander can lead to serious or even fatal neurological, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular effects.

Reported symptoms include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat, and arrhythmia.

Affected supplements include:

Consumers who purchased the above VidaSlim products with expiration dates between December 2024 and December 2025 are urged to discontinue use and return them to the place of purchase for exchange for a product of equal value (proof of purchase required).
