Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa will persuade US President Donald Trump that a tariff and aluminum will harm both countries.
A senior government official said on Tuesday that Trudeau spoke with US Vice President JD Vance about the influence of the Ohio steel tariff, which previously represented Vans in the US Senate.
Trump signed an executive order on Monday to implement 25 percent of the customs tariff for all steel and aluminum imports in the United States, starting March 12.
Trudeau and Fans are both in Paris for a global summit on artificial intelligence.

Trudeau said his government “will work with the American administration in the coming weeks to highlight the negative effects of Americans and Canadians of these unacceptable definitions.”
