Olé Nicolinko, the Consul General of Ukraine in Toronto, told Global News that the speech coming from the United States is “counter -results” and will serve as a “invitation (for Russia) only to commit more aggression.”

Ukrainian officials said that Russia fired 267 aircraft of a strike in Ukraine overnight on Saturday, more than any other war of the war. Moscow continued to launch ballistic missiles at Ukraine, including at least three, as its officials are holding talks with Washington.

Nicholinko said that Ukrainian negotiators are pushing for security guarantees from the United States as part of any economic or mineral deal.

Trump calls on European advisers to take over the initiative to increase security for Ukraine, which European leaders said they are ready to do and the Ukrainians say they welcome.

Nicholinko said Canada should be part of these security talks.

“We believe that at this time, it is really time for Canda to play a leading role,” he said. “Canada can fill many gaps at the present time: military support, humanity, removal, training of our forces.

“We really hope that Canada can intensify its support at the present time, as we are at a critical time, I would like to say.”

Ottawa is a major donor to Ukraine, with Kiel Global Economy Institute Canada ranked fifth in the total allocations in its tracking in Ukraine, which extends to military, financial and human contributions.

Canada ranks third for the amount of financial allocations for Ukraine, especially in pledging loans aimed at preserving the country’s solvents and providing financing quickly after allocating them.

But Canada occupies the twentieth position of the military allocations earned by the residents, and analysts criticized Ottawa for delay in providing the equipment required by Ukraine.

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said last week that Canada wanted to be “participating in the protection of Ukraine” when the war ends, although Ottawa did not say what it might require. Its office will not answer whether this means Canadian forces on the ground in Ukraine.

British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, who will travel to Washington this week with Macron, said his government is ready to deploy forces to Ukraine to help support the ceasefire in the event of anyone.

The two leaders spoke on Sunday before their American journey and said that the United Kingdom and Europe should “show the United leadership to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.”

Nicholinko said that the Ukrainians in Canada feel exhausted and “anger” with the continuation of the war and the geopolitical landscape turns, but they do not say whether this anger is directed towards the United States.

“Their anger is the war – that war, that Russia launches drones and missiles at Ukrainian cities, which Ukrainian civilians are still dying,” he said. “They are angry because they want this war to end in a fair way.

“I want to confirm that there should be a fair peace, and this is what the Ukrainians want.”
