New York State Police said a 33-year-old mother went to Niagara Falls with her two children, a 9-year-old and a 5-month-old. Search and rescue efforts were unsuccessful.
Authorities say Wednesday they responded to the area around 9 p.m. Monday and determined the family had passed the security barrier on Luna Island. The small island is located between the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls, which, along with the Horseshoe Falls, is a popular tourist attraction.
