A week after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order for the United States to recognize the Gulf of Mexico as “the Gulf of America”, Google says it will change the name of users in Google Maps.
Trump’s executive, signed on the opening day, is that “the previously known area as the Gulf of Mexico … the Gulf of America is officially renamed.”
Although the United States that changes the name of the water body unilaterally does not obligate other countries to learn about changing the name, the American users of Google Maps will see the new name on their mobile phones.
Google Maps will also change the name Denali to Mount Mckinley after Trump returned to the old name of Alaskan Peak, and an order declined during the Obama era.

“This applies here too,” said Google.
Trump’s executive order, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Walter Crocshank, has been updated within 30 days of signing the request.
The executive order said: “The region that was previously known as the Gulf of Mexico was an integral part of our nation that was prosperous, and it has been an indelible part of America.”
The executive, titled “Restore the Names Honoring American Greatness”, regains the name Mount McKinley, which the Obama administration re -named Denali in 2015 to honor the original Alaska history and the ATHABASCAN people in the region.
