An Israeli raid on a refugee camp in northern Lebanon killed at least two Hamas officials, according to the Israeli military.

The early morning raid came a day after another Israeli air strike cut off a major highway linking Lebanon to Syria, leaving two large craters on both sides of the road.

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had killed two activists from the armed wing of the Hamas movement operating in Lebanon, according to Reuters.

Israel began a ground incursion on Tuesday into Lebanon against the armed group Hezbollah. The Israeli army said that nine soldiers were killed in the conflict in southern Lebanon.

An Israeli air strike on central Beirut kills 7 Hezbollah first responders

Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged fire across the Lebanese border on an almost daily basis since the day after the Hamas cross-border attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 Israelis and took 250 others hostage. Israel declared war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response.

As the war between Israel and Hamas reaches its first year, more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Strip, with just over half of the dead being women and children, according to local health officials.

Nearly 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since then, most of them since September 23, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
