US media reported that a man from Quebec died in a boat explosion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this week.
Several local media outlets cited the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) as saying that 41-year-old Sebastien Gauthier died following the explosion at Lauderdale Marina on Monday.
Rescue workers also transported five people to local hospitals, three of whom were suffering from serious injuries.
The sixth person who was missing in the water was found after a long search and found dead. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said on X.

Global News reached out to the FWC and Global Affairs Canada for confirmation of the deceased and more details about the incident, but did not receive an immediate response on Wednesday.

A video spread on social media The ship is shown engulfed in flames after the explosion, with a thick column of black smoke billowing into the sky.
Rescue officials say they do not know the cause of the explosion.
