Prime Minister David EBY in Washington, DC, to meet with US representatives about the proposed definitions of President Donald Trump.
Speaking on Wednesday morning, Eibi said that the Canadian Prime Minister had some “positive discussions” with both Democrats and the Republicans.
“The common topic among all meetings is that the elected actors on all parties understand the importance of the relationship between the United States and Canada, and our importance is all to understand the goals in terms of these labor discussions and customs tariff discussions and the need to clarify this.”
“It is a mystery for all of us, and certainly it is a mystery to us from British Columbia to understand the reason why the Americans themselves pay 25 percent for aluminum so that they cannot reach it anywhere else.”
While Doug Ford, Prime Minister of Ontario, said that Canada needs to be more powerful in its approach to Trump’s tariff, Ebi said he supports the approach of the Canada team and the two countries can work together to address issues without causing economic damage.
“For British Colombia, the last thing we think is more economic integration with the United States at the present time, due to the threat of customs tariffs,” Ebi said.

We are looking for other customers, each of our aluminum producers to mines, to our forest companies or agricultural producers, and our seafood sales, all of this.
