When do polls close in the United States?
Polls close at different times across the United States. The first polls to close include parts of Indiana and Kentucky at 6 p.m. ET, and the closing will continue hourly until 1 a.m. ET when the final polls close in Alaska.

While the results of some states such as California, New York, Louisiana and Texas may be settled conclusions, a number of other states – commonly referred to as swing states – are likely to determine the outcome of the presidential race.

- Nevada – 10 p.m. ET
- Wisconsin – 9 p.m. ET
- Michigan – 8pm and 9pm ET depending on time zone
- Pennsylvania – 8 p.m. ET
- North Carolina – 7:30 p.m. ET
- Georgia – 7 p.m. ET
