Four European sources said on Saturday that the United States asked European capitals about what they could contribute in terms of security guarantees for Ukraine.

The sources said that the United States had sent a document that raises questions that include the contributions of possible future forces, as two of the sources added that it had been sent earlier this week.

The Financial Times reported first that Washington asked its European allies to provide information about weapons, peacekeeping forces and security arrangements that they can provide to Ukraine.

“The idea is clear to see how European allies see the potential framework for negotiations to end the conflict and potential participation in Europe and the United States,” said a European diplomat with the document.
