Hundreds of people gathered in Hong Kong on Saturday to watch the city’s first drone fireworks display, as part of a campaign to raise support and awareness for panda conservation.
The 10-minute drone show included 1,000 drones, some equipped with fireworks, that flew over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor and created images of the city’s giant pandas.
During certain parts of the spectacle, some drones displayed fireworks, while hundreds more formed a 3D panda slowly rotating in the sky.
Some excited spectators arrived hours before the show to make sure they got a good spot to watch.
Eddie Chow, a father who brought his two children to the drone show, said such displays could attract more tourists to Hong Kong.
“I think the list was great, the combination of fireworks and drones is a very special topic, Hong Kong should have more of these activities,” Chow said, adding that Saturday’s spectacle was his first experience watching a drone show.
